
Jeff Swisher is an accomplished educator and technology expert with a passion for American history and Computer Science. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Studies Education and a Master of Arts in American History from Purdue University. With a strong foundation in technology, He also studied Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence Track) and a minor Mathematics at Taylor University, where he was part of the National Team Pascal Programming Champions in 1987.
His dedication to teaching is evident in his experience at various educational institutions, such as School City of Hammond, East Porter School Corporation and Griffith Public Schools. Throughout his career, He has taught a diverse range of courses, including U.S. History, American Government, Current Events, Robotics, PLTW Electronics and Computer Science. He has also been actively involved in extracurricular activities, serving as a coach for academic and robotics teams, and leading initiatives such as the Middle School Coding Club and Mock Trial.
In 2020, he founded Animated History, a project dedicated to bringing history alive through technology. This venture has led to the development of interactive and animated resources, such as a periodic table for FDR’s New Deal, a World War II series, and a display of landmark Supreme Court cases.
His expertise in technology extends beyond the classroom. He has held director-level positions at Focus Hospitality Services and Dunn Solutions Group, where he was responsible for implementing and managing technology solutions and resources.
A respected member of the academic community, Jeff has contributed to numerous publications, including books, articles, and educational resources. His work has been published by esteemed institutions such as the Franklin Roosevelt Library and Museum, the Museum of the Moving Pictures, and Prentice Hall Publishers. Additionally, He is a long-time board member of the Indiana Council for the Social Studies and has held positions on various cohort teams for the Indiana Department of Education.
Throughout his career, he has received multiple awards for his dedication to teaching and technology, such as the Borland Trainer of Year, BusinessObjects Trainer of Year, NWI Times Teaching Award, and the Amazon Future Engineers Award. Jeff Swisher’s commitment to education and technology has not only enriched the lives of his students but also advanced the fields of history and computer science.
